Winter Skin Rejuvenation Facial

Winter Skin Rejuvenation Facial

The winter season is the perfect time to consider skin rejuvenation treatments.  The days are much shorter and less sunlight means there is a much smaller chance of issues developing after the treatment.  It is generally cooler weather which is also beneficial for healing the skin after more invasive professional procedures.

One of the more popular skin rejuvenation treatments is Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT).  Microneedling is a professional treatment that improves the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, loss of firmness, brown spots and stretch marks by stimulating the skin’s natural ability to repair itself.  An electric device or “pen” with tiny, sharp needles is used to create hundreds of micro-channels in the skin.  This process triggers the release of growth factors and cytokines, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in younger looking skin.  Numbing cream is used prior to the treatment so there is very little, if any, pain or discomfort associated with microneedling.

Most healthy people are considered good candidates for microneedling.  Those who are pregnant, have significant melasma, are susceptible to glycation, have an allergy to the numbing cream or have pacemakers are not good candidates for this treatment.

Pre-treating the skin to prepare for microneedling ensures the very best outcome.  A series may be needed to achieve skin care goals, depending upon the degree of damage to the skin so the healthier the skin, the better the result.

NeoGenesis and Microneedling are a perfect match.  Preparing the skin for the treatment will optimize the intended results and minimize downtime or unwanted results.  Plan on a minimum of a week or two in advance of the scheduled treatment.  After cleansing with the NeoGenesis Cleanser, apply Recovery all over the face and neck, around the eyes and lips.  Follow with Barrier Renewal Cream.  Do this twice daily prior to the microneedle treatment.

This same protocol, used twice daily along with a good sunscreen, will help the skin heal naturally and give it the nutrients it needs for the best results.  Recovery serum may be used during the microneedle treatment, as well as immediately afterwards and twice daily for at least 14 days as the skin completes its healing cycle.

Below is a professional protocol that takes approximately 2 hours to perform, including the time for the numbing cream to take effect.  The skin will receive a full rejuvenation and appear brighter, smoother, and tighter once any peeling has stopped and the skin returns to a normal state.

Microneedle Rejuvenation Facial

Step 1: Begin with a thorough cleanse of the skin with the Cleanser.

Step 2: Spray a light mist of the Moisturizing Mist onto the skin to maintain hydration.

Step 3: Apply 1 to 2 pumps of the Skin Serum to the face and neck.

Step 4: Apply a pea size amount of Eye Serum around both eyes, using the ring fingers.

Step 5: Apply approximately a quarter size of Enzyme Crème Mask to the face and neck, avoiding the eye area.  Leave on 3 to 5 minutes, then removed with a warm, steamed towel.

Step 6: Apply Numbing Cream as directed by manufacturer. After leaving on the numbing cream 20 to 30 minutes, remove completely before proceeding with the treatment.

Step 7: Apply approximately 6 to 7  drops of Recovery serum to the face and neck, including the eye area.

Step 8: To create a safe and beneficial glide to be used with the Microneedle treatment, use 1 to 2 pumps of Glide Gel and then dilute to a thin viscosity as desired with sterile saline solution.  Apply to the skin as needed while moving the Microneedle Pen around the face and neck.

Step 9: Perform the Microneedle treatment. Follow the best practices for the device used for the treatment.  When the treatment is complete, gently blot the skin with sterile 4 x 4 wipes.

Step 10: Apply approximately 1-2 pumps of Recovery serum to the face and neck, including the eye area, following the Microneedle.

Step 11: Optional:  Red LED treatment. Red LED may be added here following the Microneedle treatment.

Step 12:  Apply 1-2 pumps of Booster to the face and neck, including the eye area.

Step 13: Apply 2-3 pumps of Barrier Renewal Cream to the face and neck.
